Welcome to the website of Bonnie Neely for Humboldt County Supervisor, District 4
Dear Friends,
I am greatly encouraged by the support you’ve shown me, and as we near the final stretches of the upcoming election, your support is needed now more than ever before.
This election is up to you. Your grassroots support is invaluable not only for my campaign, but for the shape of our local economy and quality of life. Please sign up to do what you can today. You only need to invest a few hours of your time to make a difference for years to come.
As you know, this crucial election will decide the fate of Humboldt County for generations to come. The role of County Supervisor is not to be taken lightly. Unlike one of my opponents who admitted to the press she “hasn’t really thought in detail” about the most challenging issue the next Board of Supervisors will face, I can assure you that I have. As your 4th District County Supervisor, I will continue to thoughtfully examine all issues with a discerning eye when it comes to environmental policies and land use decisions.
Please join me in this campaign by calling 707-499-6412 or signing up here on my website: Sign up
Thank you. Together we can ensure a bright outcome for our community.
Sincerely,
Bonnie

Neely will Seek Re-Election to Humboldt
County
Board of Supervisors
EUREKA - Supervisor Bonnie Neely today announced she is running for re-election to the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors in the 4th District on June’s Primary ballot.
Joined by dozens of supporters, family and friends, Neely made her announcement on the steps of the Humboldt County Main Library in Eureka.
“We’re here at the library because the effort we all made to provide people free library services exemplifies the spirit of working together to improve the quality of life here in Humboldt County,” Neely said. “And improving our quality of life has always been and will always be my measure of success.
“Now, our quality of life depends on expanding economic opportunity and creating good-paying sustainable jobs. I am running for re-election because I have the knowledge and experience to tackle the complex issues we will face as we work together to increase prosperity while we decrease our impact on our environment.”
Neely said the board is moving quickly to help energize the local economy.
Just last week, she and her colleagues approved $1.5 million from the Headwaters
Fund to help the County Office of Education implement programs that will
encourage more public school students to attend college or engage in career
training so they can stay right here in Humboldt County to build their
careers.
Next to the economy, Neely said she is most concerned about keeping people safe.
“I am proud that despite historic budget cuts, our county hasn’t laid
off a single sheriff deputy,” said Neely. “Keeping roads, neighborhoods
and properties safe is a challenging job for an understaffed force. Humboldt
County deputy sheriffs deserve our thanks and as Supervisor, I will continue
support then in every way I can.”
As supervisor, Neely has served as the North Coast representative on the
California Board of Forestry and currently serves on the California Coastal
Commission, which she chairs. She highlighted some of the most significant
accomplishments she and her colleagues on the Coastal Commission have achieved
to protect Humboldt County’s coastline while protecting jobs, the dredging
of Humboldt Bay for additional maritime use, protection of the Bay’s oyster
beds and other areas important to the fishing industry, approval of the
Mad River Bridge, construction of Humboldt State’s new dock at the Aquatic
Center, and replacement of PG&E’s nuclear power plant with cleaner
sources of power.
District 4 is made up of most of the City of Eureka as well as neighboring rural areas. Neely said she is most proud of the work she has done in partnership with the City of Eureka to improve life for the city’s businesses and residents.
“It has been the honor of a lifetime to serve the people of Humboldt County,” Neely said. “I’m especially proud of our role in keeping Eureka a unique place to live, shop and run a business. Our assistance centers, this library and the funding we provided for the revitalization of Old Town say a lot about the progress we can make if we work together.”
